COR Youth Rites of Passage - August 5 - August 28, 2012
The mission of COR Youths' Rites of Passage is to help boys and girls grow spiritually, mentally and physically into young men and women by encountering and embracing Christian and afro-centric principles. It includes "Daughters of Destiny" for our girls and "Sons of Success" for our boys.
Most importantly, the main purpose of COR Youth Rites of Passage is to ensure our boys and girls are prepared for excellence in schools, sports, community, and in all their endeavors through:
- Positive pairing up and mentoring
- Enriching activities
- Clear and achievable standards
- Practical life lessons
Every Tuesday and Sunday, our youth have enjoyed group sessions with our mentors. They have asked questions and received answers. Knowledge has been offered and accepted. Critique has been rendered and accepted. Challenges and corrections have been issued. For four weeks, the Rites of Passage program discussed manhood, womanhood, conflict resolution, hygiene, wardrobe, habits, relationships, risks, goals, fitness, and good decisions. We encouraged the youth to communicate effectively. We encouraged them to preserve the innocence of their youth and sanctity of their bodies. We gladly graduated more than 25 young people who gracefully accepted the admonition to receive the lessons and adjust their lifestyle. These Rites of Passage graduates will transform our world.
We proudly celebrate and acknowledge their achievement and commitment to themselves, their parents, their community, and their church.
